Do you have sinus pressure or is it toothache

Posted on 1/24/2022 by Dr. Frank K. Sioda
Do you have sinus pressure or is it toothacheYou sometimes experience pain in the upper jaw and think that your teeth are injured. Sinus pressure is the accumulation or buildup of mucus in the nasal cavity. This causes too much pressure and makes your jaw and teeth experience pain. You need to have a way of identifying what is causing pain. The dentist will guide you in pain identification.

Regular dental visits

This is the best way to avoid future health hazards, going to see the dentist even when you are not sick is vital. The dentist performs a dental examination in all parts of your mouth, this is to detect any form of oral problem that might be attacking you. The dentist will be able to tell if you have pain due to sinus pressure or it is a toothache due to several things like tooth decay, dental cavities, or an injured tooth. You can reduce your chance of tooth decay, which is what causes a toothache if you follow proper oral hygiene habits regularly. Brushing twice a day, flossing regularly, limiting sugar intake, knowing when to change your toothbrush, and visiting your dentist for regular examinations are all examples of good oral hygiene.

How do I know I have sinusitis?

You're probably suffering from a sinus infection if you're having pain on both sides of your face. It's most likely not a toothache if you press down directly on a tooth and don't feel any immediate discomfort. A blocked or runny nose, a cough or sore throat, pain around or behind your cheekbones, or pain/difficulty moving your head up and down are some more sinus-related symptoms to watch out for.

If you're ever uncertain about what's causing your mouth pain, or if your medical history doesn't indicate a history of sinus infections, it's in your best interest to call our dentist as soon as you notice something unusual in your mouth.
