Could Your Oral Health Improve if You Started Drinking More Tea?If you can find easy ways to improve your oral health, you would probably do it. One of the easiest ways to improve your oral health is through drinking more tea. Of course, like many things you need to understand how it can help and what it will do. That will help you come up with a plan to do the right things when it comes to drinking more tea.

The Benefits of Green Tea

When it comes to tea, green tea often offers the most health benefits. Besides helping with brain function and lowering the risk of cancer, green tea offers several benefits to your oral health. The first benefit is green tea's ability to reduce the amount of bacteria in the mouth. Fewer bacteria means less chance of plaque buildup, tooth decay and gum disease.

By reducing the amount of bacteria on the teeth and gums, the risk for cavities drops. If the risk for cavities, tooth decay and gum disease is lower, the risk of losing teeth will also drop. One of the cancers that green tea can lower the risk for is oral cancer.

Fewer bacteria in the mouth thanks to green tea will help prevent bad breath. Bacteria buildup in the mouth can result in chronic bad breath. With the help of green tea, that risk goes down.

Use the Tea Right
The key to having green tea improve your oral health is to use it properly. It is generally safe to drink as much as 5 cups of green tea a day. It is best to use cold water, either filtered or spring water, that is brought to a boil and then cooled for a few minutes. That water can then steep the tea leaves to create the tea. Do not try to sweeten the tea if you want the best results. It is also important to use green tea and not black tea. The black tea is more processed and does not offer the same benefits for your oral health.
