One cause is that you may have had too much fluoride as a child. This means that there are going to be white spots on your teeth or your child's teeth until they lost their baby teeth. Adult teeth will not have spots caused by fluoride. Another cause of white teeth, enamel hypoplasia, also only occurs with baby teeth, but it can cause tooth decay. The main causes of white spots on adult teeth is poor dental hygiene. This is especially true if you like to eat a lot of acidic or sugary foods. The acids and sugars eat away at your dental enamel, which can cause white spots. If you wore braces, and you didn't clean your teeth properly, you may also have issues with white spots. Treatment for White SpotsLuckily for you, you don't have to live with white spots. There are several treatments we can try to fix the problem. We could try microabrasion to get rid of the white spots. This means we will remove a tiny portion of your tooth enamel where the white spot was, to reduce their appearance.
