What Happens When You Neglect Flossing?Everyone has heard from their dentist or their friends about the importance of flossing. Brushing your teeth or using mouthwash isn't always an available option.

That is the beauty of flossing. It is easy to carry around and can be accomplished easily. You don't even need extra tool like a cup or a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Floss can easily fit in a pocket or purse. But you wonder what happens if you don't floss. What makes it as important as brushing?

Benefits of Flossing

There are several benefits of flossing the most important of which is preventing tooth decay. Flossing removes the environment in your mouth that can cause tooth decay. Obviously, that is the primary objective. But flossing does more than prevent tooth decay because the environment that assists tooth decay also causes other problems you should be aware of.

What Else Can Flossing Help?

One thing that is important to people, particularly if you deal with the public or co-workers, is bad breath. No one wants bad breath, but most people don't realize that the bacteria that causes tooth decay also causes bad breath. When you floss, you remove some of these bacteria and as a result, your breath smells better.

Another benefit of flossing is getting rid of those annoying little bits of food that can get stuck between your teeth. Though people may not be able to see them, you can feel them. Flossing removes them, making you more comfortable and confident.

One more reason to floss is to help remove the tartar that builds up on your teeth during the course of the day. The tartar eats away at the enamel on your teeth, helping to further tooth decay.

Lastly, flossing can help to remove the bacteria that hide under your gums. This is important because that bacteria can lead to gum disease.
